At Girls Ball Hockey Leagues, we strive to empower young female athletes through the sport of ball hockey. We believe in fostering a love for the game while promoting teamwork, discipline, and confidence. Mary Platt is the reason we are Whitby Fire today—a founding member of ball hockey in Durham more than 40 years ago, her vision and dedication laid the foundation for our success.

Her love of the game—whether as a player, a coach, or a referee—never wavered. Tracy just wanted everyone to love the game as much as she did. From coaching the first girls’ team to win a world gold medal in 2018, to co-founding the only girls’ league in Ontario, her legacy is one of passion and leadership.

Every jersey tells a story, and this one is no exception. The journey began with the Whitby Fire league, named for the fiery spirit of our founders—a passion that continues to fuel our dreams today. The choice of purple honors Mary, who lost her battle with stomach cancer, while the pink ribbon stands as a tribute to Tracy, who passed away from breast cancer. Each logo, thoughtfully designed by my daughter Mackenzie, adds a unique touch, and the initials on every jersey serve as a lasting reminder of the people and memories that inspire us.
You will need some equipment to enjoy this sport:
